Outstanding community, with nature at its fore front. The most amazing location with all facilities well thought out and the most helpful team. A must if you are looking for that extra space to expand your growing knowledge of veg, fruit and flowers 🌸

Steph Holburn

"My husband has wanted an allotment for ages but the council waiting lists could have been years. He loves gardening and wanted to grow his own veg. Thanks to Roots I was able to get him this for Christmas"

Pete

We have had a fab time getting started 😊 everyone be so lovely and really form a community. We already got things growing which is really exciting and the view is just wonderful 😊

John Middleton

Great site- we were one of the first to get on and have had some great results already- the guys running it are incredibly friendly- full of knowledge and also passionate about their project. The site is very well furnished- loads of tools and water stations- free compost on site, and some organic fertiliser- plus loads of events and regular updates and top seasonal tips. Seeds and plug plants come along with membership- great value, wholesome- fun and recommended.

Gill

Such a great idea! Started here about 6 weeks ago and I’m loving it. Everybody is so friendly and helpful. The setup makes everything easy and straightforward and the guys are always available for help and advice (which I need loads of!).

Alex Beaumont

"I have never had an allotment and I don't know much but I wanted to learn a new hobby and lifestyle. Tuckers Meadow by the Avon looked like a great site for this as they are also providing guidance and creating a community to learn from others"

Our Community Ethos

Healthy people and healthy planet

Did you know that produce loses up to 30% of its nutrients within 3 days of being picked? Shop bought food is wrapped in plastic and travels hundreds (if not thousands) of miles before hitting our plate. That’s not doing us, the planet or the soil any good. If we can all start small, then the impact is big! A no-dig allotment is a great way to start being less reliant on carbon & fossil fuel consuming food chains.

High nutrition
Less plastic
Sustainable

good vibes projects

The founders are comitted to their local commuities, in our home town Bath we have so far worked with local shools, NHS Hospitals, YMCA, Local Food Charities to feed the homeless & loads more. We gift patches to all local schools to bring their students down to learn to grow and we will teach them for free and pay for their travel to help the schools out. We know how tight the funding is at the moment. We try take a day off a month to go as a team to help build a new allotment or growing space in a place we feel needs it.

SURPLUS PRODUCE TO COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Our lovely sharing shelves are there for our growers to place any surplus produce, so that others can enjoy their bountiful harvest! Instead of just providing for the Roots community we also give surplus veg to the wider community via community products like CropDrop in Bath.

PATCHES FOR SCHOOLS

We give away free patches to schools in the local area to our sites to help children learn and reconnect with the land. We used to teach gardening at school decades ago and it's ancestral knowledge we're in danger of losing. It's so important for children to resonate and understand where their food comes from, kids who grow their own are twice as likely to eat all of their five a day.

SUPPORT BIG ISSUE WORKERS

We're really proud to have linked up with Big Issue on all our site builds so far to provide paid work to Big Issue workers. On our first site, we still have communication with those that helped us, and gave both of them a free patch for life. Our plan is to keep offering paid work to Big Issue workers to help build the site and with ongoing maintenance as we open up more sites across the country.

champs of no dig technique

We've teamed up with some incredible growing experts to get some incredible exclusive content for you all! The lessons vary from sowing seeds to making your own organic fertiliser. We were lucky enough to work with Kate (Four Acre Farm CSA), Charles Dowding and Mitch (Mitchgrows). These courses are all accessible on the member's area.
